Day 341

Image
This is NOT official yet but pretty official. Izzie had a brain scan at Boston Children's to monitor her situation which essentially is nothing. They saw no evidence of blood or extra fluid. It's stable. And the best news is that it appears the ventricles have shrunk a little.  Happiest girl at a hospital:

Day 264

Image
This peanut is 12lbs 8oz and 22.25 inches.  I know that because we had 2 appointments today that lasted an awful long time.  Cliff notes? There is some stuff to watch for but they are very unlikely to develop into anything.  Detailed notes?  Heart They did an echo on her heart and she has slight narrowing of her mitral valve. It hasn't gotten worse in the last 2 months and if it were going to be a problem, it would've gotten worse, likely. It's at 5mm. She also has a small obstruction in her left ventricle. It's also very small and unlikely to get bigger. Neither of those issues are causing pressure problems so they aren't anything to be concerned with. We will follow up in 2 months or if she starts to breathe heavily or sweat while eating, then I call him and he sees her right away. Fixes could include putting balloons in or surgery.  Brain For her brain, we saw the same guy from Children's that we saw when she was in the hospital for her heart su...

Day 192

Image
Love snuggling with this munchkin! She loves sleeping in daddy's spot in bed before he comes in - I cuddle with her every night.  Ugh so I hate to post negative stuff on here but it's par & parcel for the course, I suppose. Izzie has a brain scan today to follow up on all the brain crap that's been going on. And basically, they just don't know what's going on. Some things have gotten larger, some have shrunk. So they are sending it to Boston Children's. I'll update once we hear back.

Day 116

Image
Boston Children's was able to fit Izzie in for a "feed & wrap" MRI today which means she needed to not eat and then when we go t there, feed her so she hopefully fell asleep and then we wrap her nice and tight so shes warm. It was not sedated. If today did not work out then she would've had to go back tomorrow for a sedated one and be admitted overnight.  Luckily, after 45 minutes of me rocking her after feeding, she went to sleep and they were able to do the MRI. She did wake p crying a few times but we were able to get her to go back to sleep but a 45 minute ultrasound turned into 2.5 hours. Poor kiddo. (Reminder, I had an MRI done this summer on her brain so I had to get into the machine... and I always knew I was a little claustrophobic but never knew I was THAT bad because I cried the entire time and had to be taken out several times. They are looking for this suspicious thing in her brain that could be 1 of 5 things: 1. the brain bleed she had when she...

Day 38

Image
Izzie had her 2nd neurology scan today. She still has a grade 2 brain bleed but again, that doesn't mean anything. It's not getting bigger. Grade 3 and 4 can do harm. Grades 1 and 2 are fine. The annoying part is there is nothing you can do to heal them or make them go away and they can take time to go away. Her next scan is in February.

Day 4

Image
Izzie passed her car seat test today.  The developmental specialist took a look at her foot and said it's definitely not club foot. We're still gonna see the surgeon just in case on Friday.  Jack stopped by for a few. I miss him SOOO much. It was really hard to see him and say goodbye. But here are some pics of him and Izzie.  Izzie was discharged from the NICU today and is now in my room with me.  She does not have ventriculomegaly however she does have a grade 2 bleed in her brain which will clear up on its own and should cause no issues. There is no swelling which is also good. They'll keep an eye on it.  For visitors we had my mom, Jack, Jesse, Lindsay, Kyle, and Doug.
