Hips

Izzie started to have a weird gait in July so we scheduled an appointment with her orthopedic doctor. He said she looks great for a 3 year old. She's running and walking fine. He even xrayed her hips. Says she no longer needs orthotics. The gait was likey due to a minor injury.

Day 313

Isabelle has 2 appointments today. Her ENT confirmed that she would need her tonsils and adenoids out by the time she's 2. Also, they found fluid behind both ear drums so she needs tubes placed in her ears in the next month. Basically he was like, "we're headed into winter so this is not going to get better and she will be getting ear infections". Minor surgery. Her ortho said her hips feel good and he doesn't see/feel anything wrong. However, he said her feet are extremely flexible which will cause problems when walking so when she starts to become interested in walking/standing she will need braces. Not sure for how long.

Day 140

This peanut had 4 appointments today. Her cardiologist saw her first and put her on antibiotics for the infection. Her orthopedist looked at her right foot to triple confirm it's not clubbed foot - it's not. And he took xrays of her hips because kids with DS can have issues there. They looked great. She met with a geneticist (expert on trisomy 21) who answered some questions I had. And got her blood drawn for her thyroid. We were told they might reduce her medication because last time she had it measured, it was 1.11 (needs to be below 6.5). Well... it came back at 7.32. WTF? So her meds are being increased. That sucks.
